Sharing Love on Instagram
Engagement (aka sharing love) is an integral part of your business Strategy
Whether you are an individual just getting started with your business’s social media page, an influencer growing a personal brand or an established business that has a team managing your social media presence, engagement (aka sharing love) is an integral part of the strategy for growth, for not only community development but community trust and respect. It is not just about the engagement you GET but the engagement you GIVE. Social media is supposed to be SOCIAL and love is a two-way street.
Picture this: You drop a new post, you spent a lot of time planning the photo or video shoot and then spent time writing the caption. You post it (wahoo!) and get 10 / 20 / 100 comments and respond to just one or two. What do you think that says to those who spent the time liking, commenting, and sharing your work!? I know if I spent time commenting daily on my favorite bloggers page and they never responded to me I’d be a little off put.

Now, keeping in mind what your goal is for social media - we still know (and it has been a proven strategy on clients time and again) that responding to E V E R Y comment, no matter how small, is so important keep your social media community building momentum, just as important as consistency and quality (we’ll talk about these in upcoming blogs).
Yes, responding to comments is time consuming, but it shows that you care and appreciate the time someone has taken to “show you love”! At Beloved Social we include community management as a part of our packages but there is no replacement for the small business owner hopping in to respond to comments as well and offer that personal touch! Like a Valentine’s Day card - the homemade ones are always the best.
A tip we have to make responding to comments a cinch is using “talk to text” to get through them quickly!
Love is a two-way street and so is engagement on Instagram.
Consistent Branding and Content
Regardless of the social media platform engagement is QUEEN. That also means if you see something YOU like, be sure to like, share, comment as it’s much more likely you’ll receive a follow and/or reciprocal engagement on your page.
Many people ask:
“What is most important - a comment, a like or a share?”
“How many words should I comment?”
etc…
We believe that all hold value and its important to keep your mental health, time constraints and goals in mind. Do what you can, when you can but be sure to protect time on your calendar for it and do it authentically. We would love to see at least 15 minutes a day dedicated to engagement from our clients!
